Vintage Kutani Sake Cup Pin Cushion: Chirimen Silk, Natural Stone Bead, Japanese Ochoko

Obviously I'm a sewer and every time we are in Japan I see this style of pin cushion so this time I brought back lots of tea and sake cups (and of course the fabric) to make them myself. This kutani-ware sake cap is from Fushimi (a town just outside of Kyoto where Fushimi Inari Shrine is) and depicts Jurōjin with symbols for wisdom, longevity, and good fortune. The inside is kimono chirimen silk, from the hakkake. The weave of the silk is perfect for pins and the purple matches his outfit. :) I made the petals using a shiny gold cord and finished it with a natural stone bead. It measures about 2 1/4" across and about 2 3/4" tall (although I have the cushion sticking out a bit and it's wedged in there). I couldn't bring myself to glue it in place so it's totally repositionable. If you want me to glue it before I ship it I can but I liked that it was removable. I have lots of other Japanese items in my shop and have the supplies to make another 20 pin cushions so there should be more in my shop.
