Vintage Kyoto Sake Cup Pincushion, Gekkeikan Ceramic Ochoko Pin Cushion, Lavender Japanese Kimono Silk

Obviously I'm a sewer and every time we are in Japan I see this style of pin cushion so this time I brought back lots of tea and sake cups (and of course the fabric) to make them myself. This sake cap is from Gekkeikan, a sake brewery in Fushimi (a town just outside of Kyoto). I like to the Fushimi sake village where they pair the sake with food, in case you ever go there. The inside is kimono silk, from a high end kimono with a rinzu weave. The tight weave of the silk is perfect for pins and I liked the lavender with the green wreath. I made the petals using a shiny gold cord and finished it with a pearl and rhinestone gold bead. It's really rather decadent but I think they go well together. It measures about 2 1/4" across and about 2 3/4" tall (although I have the cushion sticking out a bit and it's wedged in there. I couldn't bring myself to glue it in place so it's totally repositionable. If you want me to glue it before I ship it I can but I liked that it was removable. I have lots of other Japanese items in my shop and have the supplies to make another 20 pin cushions so there should be more in my shop.
