Silk Coin Purse; Vintage Japanese Rinzu Kimono Silk Flex Frame Pouch Small Change, Jewelry and Earbud

I got this fabric in Kyoto at Toji Temple Market. It is silk, with a shiki-monyo, or four seasons design, made from a kimono (this particular cut was a sleeve). I lined it with a gold colored lining from a kimono, also silk. That fabric was hand dyed so the color is not consistent throughout, which added to it's charm. I love the softness and luster to it. I used a very heavy interfacing on the outer silk so this pocket holds it's shape well. I wanted to lean into the vintage style so I used an expandable frame, which pinches open when you squeeze the ends but seals nice and tight. They are easy to open but secure. I made it with the thought that you could carry jewelry in it and keep it safe but my son thinks ear buds would go great in it and you could clip it onto a bag. I added a D ring on one side and a removable bead charm (I will also add a keychain clip but I didn't buy it in time for the photos). It measures 3.5" x 3" (to the top, about 3/4" less for the bag portion). My shop has a matching purse and eyeglass case (until they are sold- everything is one of a kind).
