Shiraume Evening Double Kiss Lock Bag Purse Purple Katazome Clutch Japanese Silk OOAK 1/1

This bag is a unique, one-of-a-kind wearable art piece. Handcrafted from authentic, upcycled Japanese tsumugi silk featuring a traditional katazome (stencil-resist) floral motif. The design has been carefully 'fussy cut' to place the floral design is on both the front and back. The interior is fully lined with a an upcycled kimono lining of slubbed Japanese silk. Finished with a vintage-style gold frame, elegant amber resin handle, and a removable gold chain. It also includes a purse charm of a gold tassel and glass pearl beads. The fabric was purchased in Kyoto, Japan at Toji Temple Market for the outside and the lining is the lining from a kimono I purchased in Osaka at Tenryuji Temple Market. The outside is tsumugi silk, a labor intensive handwoven fabric, which causes the unique texture. The inside is also silk and has a few discolorations and imperfections, just owing to it's previous life. Both silks have a heavy weight interfacing and the core is a 6mm foam to give the purse a sold form. Inside is a pocket with made with the outer fabric and also with the katazome design. The purse is approximately 9" x 6" x 1". The hard handle swivels and is a mock tortoise shell pattern. There is also a removable chain handle This is all handmade by my husband and I and this is the reason we opened this shop- to produce our own unique purse line and save these gorgeous fabrics and Japanese traditions.
