Pink Sakura Kinchaku Bag Japanese Tenugui Drawstring Crossbody Purse Bucket Bag

This is the first bag I've made in this style and as such, I made it from cotton because it is easier to work with than silk. I choose a pink sakura tenugui that I bought in Kyoto and added a heavy interfacing to the back (tenugui fabric is pretty light but sturdy). It also has a fleece interfacing making the whole bag soft and plush. It has a boxed bottom and is lined in white satin. It has a champagne colored drawstring with wood beads and a matching removable strap. I also added a pink omamori from a shrine (I picked up quite a few while I was in Uji) as a removable purse charm. It is for success in academics or professional endeavors, to bring you luck as you pursue your goals. :) While an omamori is a pocket be sure to not open it as it allows the luck to escape! The purse is about 8.5" across, 9" high, and the base is 3.5". It is much larger than most kinchaku bags and I wanted it to be practical, which is why I added the strap. It is long enough to wear it crossbody style, which is what I prefer. I have also made two other items from this fabric to make a set (an eyeglass case and a small pouch).
