Kimono Silk Clutch, Japanese Upcycled Purse, Four Seasons Floral Evening Bag, Crossbody Chain

I love the look of this purse, a sort of everyday elegance. It measures 8" x 5" and opens about 3", surprisingly spacious for it's style. I got the fabric in Kyoto at Toji Temple Market. It is silk, with a shiki-monyo, or four seasons design, made from rinzu kimono silk (this particular cut was a sleeve) I lined it with a gold colored lining from a kimono, also silk. That fabric was hand dyed so the color is not consistent throughout, which added to it's charm. I love the softness and luster to it. I used a very heavy interfacing so it holds it's unique shape. My husband had the idea for this bag style and I love how it came together- it is completely unique- all his own design! It uses a bar closure on the top. I added a heavy weight interfacing to the inside of the pocket and sides (to make them dart inward). The pocket is made of the exterior fabric. The price is a little less on this one because the fabric at one of the corners is gathered a bit. I didn't redo it because I didn't want to damage the silk and I thought it looked fine but just so you are aware and to compensate for it. :) I zoomed in on it in the fourth picture. The strap and purse charm are removable. I made it from a tassel and glass pearl beads.
