Japanese Crane Fabric Clutch, Navy Blue Tsuru Minogame Auspicious Purse, Gold Bar Frame Bag

I love the look of this purse, a sort of everyday elegance. It measures 8" x 5" and opens about 3", surprisingly spacious for it's style. I got the fabric in Kyoto at Toji Temple Market. It is cotton and and has lovely auspicious motifs. It has gold and silver accents in the fabric. I lined the cranes and fish on the front and added an inside pocket of the same fabric with minogame (a symbol of longevity) on it. The crane and minogame paired together are a symbol of a long happy marriage so I made sure to keep them together, hiding the turtle as a pleasant surprise inside. This fabric was previously a yukata. I used a very heavy interfacing so it holds it's unique shape. My husband had the idea for this bag style and I love how it came together- it is completely unique- all his own design! It uses a bar closure on the top and is lined in navy. I added a heavy weight interfacing to the inside of the pocket and sides (to make them dart inward). The strap and purse charm are removable. The charm is a tassel with glass pearl beads.
