Indigo Blue Asanoha Crossbody Bag with Gold Bar Frame, Japanese Clutch, Navy Patterned Purse

I love the look of this purse, a sort of everyday elegance. It measures 8" x 5" and opens about 3", surprisingly spacious for it's style. I got the fabric in Kyoto at Toji Temple Market, and she sold me a bundle of cotton fabrics she said were from yukatas. The blue and white pattern of this bag is asanoha, or hemp leaf, signifying growth in Japanese culture. It is high quality cotton but light. I used a very heavy interfacing so it holds it's unique shape. My husband had the idea for this bag style and I love how it came together- it is completely unique- all his own design! It uses a bar closure on the top and is lined in navy blue with a pocket inside that matches the exterior fabric. I added a heavy weight interfacing to the inside of the pocket and sides (to make them dart inward). The strap is removable. I had planned to make a matching macrame strap but my husband favored the gold but if you'd prefer the macrame strap let me know and we could swap them out. I made the tassel and nekochan charm to add a bit of fun to the design (I could swap it out for more formal pearls if you'd like also but I loved the kitty!).
