Silk Kimono Clutch Purse, Japanese Pagoda Shrine, Kiss Lock Upcycled

I made this bag using fabrics I got at while last in Japan. The outside is a silk from the lining of a haori that I think is too gorgeous to hide. It features a temple and pagoda with burgundy colored trees. The inside is lined with a red patterned silk kimono fabric, actually from a nagajuban that the person I bought it from said was worn by a bride. It has a medium-weight soft interfacing and a pocket inside that is double layered to give it support. I lined it up so a gorgeous red bush is on the front of the pocket (the inside of the pocket is patterned too!). I bought this closure because it perfectly fits a large iphone through the opening without being too big and it screws on, making it durable. This bag is a one-of-a-kind functional wearable art piece. I have more of these fabrics but every design on the fabric is unique so there will never be two the same. The strap can be tucked in the purse and is removable. I made the strap myself. It also has a charm- an omamori from a Japanese shrine (I got several different ones at Uji Shrine) providing blessings and good fortune. It is a pocket but you aren't meant to open it so the blessings stay in. I sort of tied to shut to ensure the blessings stayed inside! The charm is removable. The purse is 7.5" x 6.5" x 1.5".
