Japanese Kinchaku Purse Kimono Orange Basket Fabric Kyoto Drawstring Yukata OOAK

This is a super unique and adorable purse! It is one of a kind as I only had these exact supplies to make one. I really consider it wearable art. This purse is made from yukata fabric (a summer kimono), in a beige chrysanthemum (for rejuvenation!) pattern in cotton (yukata are usually cotton). The bottom is the bag a basket so it stands up perfectly. The inside is fully lined and I sewed the outer fabric to the basket by hand using coordinating crochet cotton. A perfect picnic purse. It is lined in beige and I added an elastic bead area on the base to make a handle. The bag measures 5.5" across the bottom (the basket then flares out a bit) and is 5.5" tall when full. It also has a handmade removable purse charm of a gold tassel and wooden beads. I purchased the yukata at Toji Temple market from a vendor where I was buying fabric. The yukata had a stain and a hole where it had tried to be cleaned. I took it apart to make new things with it. I brought back lots of items from Japan on my last trip (two checked bags each for free x 3 people... it was something) and I have lots more kimonos, kanzashi, obis (I have a couple of orange ones that go great with this kimono!), and purses/bags that I'll be listing as I get to them.
