Japanese Tenugui Mt Fuji Kawaii Cotton Hand Towel New

Different Mt Fuji patterns; what could be more Japanese? These 100% gauzy cotton towels are nice and lightweight- and so big! They measure 33 cm x 90 cm (about 13" x 35"- almost a yard). This is really one of the most versatile items in Japan- used for so many things! I buy them for two reasons- first, I cut them in half and use them as my hand drying towel. In Japan everyone carries around a little hand towel as there are no cloths in the bathroom (better for the environment). These are really long so I cut it in half and my husband and I each have one. Often these towels are not hemmed on the short sides (these are though). Second, I often use them as fabric. They always have such cute prints and I use them to make little bags or to tie up my bento (which is one of their most common uses). They can also be folded and used as a headband (think Karate Kid). It is also used as a table runner. My son loves this pattern because he loves onigiri. He carries them in his bag to eat any time we take a break (don't eat and walk!). I picked these up at a shop in Fushimi (a small town just south of Kyoto known for sake). They have a lovely shotengai with small specialty shops just outside the Sake Village (it's a restaurant/food court).
