Japanese Kinchaku Purse Black Red Sakura Kimono Fabric Kyoto Drawstring

This purse is made from kimono fabric. The fabric is new, made from left over fabric from kimono creation. This bag has a drawstring top, a traditional Japanese style for wearing with a kimono. This one is really unique with a hexagon shaped hard base and lotus flaps around the top. The fabric is chirimen silk, the main fabric is black with white sakuras and the rust colored contrast fabric makes the flaps, base and the cording on the sides. It has a lot of detail for a little bag. It is lined in red. The hexagon bottom of the bag is firm so it stands up when full. The bag measures 5" across the base and 6" high. I have added a removable matching cord shoulder strap that clips on and a purse charm of a black tassel with a floral ceramic bead. When last in Kyoto a shop was closing not too far from Nishiki market. The person who made the purses has long retired and they were selling off what was left. I picked up several purses (more than 50 actually- oops) because the craftmanship was incredible (check out my shop if you want to see more!). The pictures don't do it justice. I brought back lots of items from Japan on my last trip (two checked bags each for free x 3 people... it was something) and I have lots more kimonos, kanzashi, obis (I have a couple of orange ones that go great with this kimono!), and purses/bags that I'll be listing as I get to them.
